Tears filled RYe's eyes as he was crouched on the floor. He concentrated making all the blood rush to his head. He formed in his mind a big Grizzly Bear. Mama was going to be his wall, his first defense. He felt he could use her strength to keep those out of his head. Rye felt her warmth and her protective behavior and her happiness when she saw him. When he heard Joshua's garbled voice talking about taking away his mom he image in his head grew stronger. He managed to gasp, "What's next?"

"Next we concentrate on an opposite wall to work in conjunction with the one you just set up, this one is going to have to be the purest and happiest memory you can drum up for all this to pan out in the end. Opposites attract basically...kind of like magnets, yet these magnets will set up the foundation for everything else we'll work on until i think you're finished." Joshua flicked his hand letting his powers force all the gym equipment to slam into the walls around them, the resulting thud echoed in the room and would have sent teams of security flooding in if they had not known it was Joshua in here with a student. He could remember when he was just learning to control his own powers by himself and how close he had come to dying a couple of times, the raw power he wielded had gotten out of control a few times leaving him battered and bloodied a few times. This was different though, Rye didnt have the kind of power he did and the walls they were creating would not fail him from within if properly maintained. "Okay this one is trickier since you have other thingd up in your mind that is going to try and muddy this memory, it has to be exactly perfect for this to work. If not then don't even try and we'll continue this at a later date...i want this to work Rye, but for some it's just not possible. You'll know it's perfect when all you can feel is bliss and nothing of anything else. Start..."

Rye nodded and closed his eyes. His brain feeling like mush. He thought of a time where he was at great joy. A time where he was happy and was part of a family. Ryes thoughts wandered and came to his next memory.
Rye was eighteen when mama died at that time he was angry and was always in the woods. He felt peace there. He met a young wolf one morning and touched him making the connection he transformed into a black wolf and communicated the animal. He named the wolf he met Brother Wolf. He followed brother wolf to a pack of wolves. Rye was timid and afraid he was going to be attacked. The Alpha male approached him and sniffed him. He seemed to check out and was accepted into the pack. He ran with his new wolf bretheren and defended them when in trouble. They hunted deer and he learned how to be part of a team and take care of others besides himself. He was accepted and was loved by the pack. He remembers spending time with them and visiting them every weekend when he moved away from the church. They knew he could stay all the time but he was happy when he was around regardless of human for wolf form.
They were probably missing him right now, he missed his weekly visit. When he would get the chance he'd visit them asap.

Joshua could feel the rpessure in the room kick up a notch as the memory played out in front of him, it was a very happy memory to his own eyes and with additional help from his own powers the thought had been amplified. Some would say he was cheating by helping his student by supplying the easy way to get to the next step, but it was necessary to advance this lesson along so he could start with the real work they had to do. His notes on powers in general gave him much insight into the inner workings of how they functioned and the catalysts that had sparked their surfacing, he had found a connection with repeated restrenghtening of a person's inner walls and the increased potential found within a power user. "Now wield that memory into something tangible to you alone and pull it to the forefront of your mind, this one is going to go ahead of mama bear since it's linked to an emotion experienced more than quick anger. Even in small amounts 'happiness' can do a lot for you, but the downside to this is that it can quickly get muddied and then BAM you've lost all control. That's when the bear comes in..."
Joshua's head snapped to the right as his brows furrowed in confusion, there was something out there calling out to him like a siren leading naive sailors to their demise. A long time ago he had learned to trust his inital gut reaction to things which had saved his life too many times to count, this time was different though in the sense that his gut was telling him to go when everything else was making it clear that this would not end well. He suddenly felt like Luke at the end of Empire Strikes Back being so conflicted and unable to not listen to that voice calling out from the void, and so with his mind made up to go on this personal missions he returned his attention to Rye once more. "It's kind of scary how well you've done in such a short amount of time, even for someone who has telepathy as a power finds it hard to put up a single mental wall let alone two and you've done it in one lesson. I'd be jealous if i couldn't fry your mind in less than a second."

Rye's eye's twitched as he kept his concentration but he managed to smirk. "I think I'll take that as a compliment Josh." He thought long and for a second wall and slowly Brother Wolf came into his mind and soon formed into his head. He seemed proud and strong ready to defend his mind.
Rye gritted his teeth and muttered loud enough for Josh to hear him, "How much more of this is there? I'm really straining and the nurse said not to do anything to mental. Is there one more wall to go or what Joshua?" blood dripped from his nose and hit his lips.

Joshua backed away from Rye for the final time today and made his way over to a bench along the western wall of the gym, his face contorted into a wince as he stumbled and fell to his knees. His mind was in turmoil from the onslaught of images pouring into his consciousness, it seemed that someone outside the island wanted him to know something and would do so forcefully if needed. He could barely grasp onto the walls within his mind before they completely retreated into the depths of his inner eye and with sudden realization as to what he was seeing he lashed out with a wave of telekinetic energy. "Fuck!", he said as the steel doors to the south of the room blew apart into dust finer than silt and brought in two guards who had been on duty in this part of the facility.
With swift action he threw his inner walls up tighter than they had ever been and closed himself up to the rest of the world solely operating detatched like, he steadily got up onto his feet and turned to face the newly present guards and Rye "I'm fine, Rye just wore me out a lot more than i had anticipated and showed me that not every fight is going to be a cake walk. Go back to your posts please, thank you!" Joshua smiled at the two retreating guards until they were out of sight and promptly sighed letting go of his happy facade, "I apologize for that moment of weakness you had to witness, it seems that i am needed elsewhere at this time so i do have to call todays lesson to a close. Not that i had anymore to show you today, you have far exceeded my expectations and genuinely have my respect for that. If you really wanted to know the truth i could die right now and you could continue on without me, it'd be a lot harder without me pushing you in the right direction but you would attain your goal. Those walls you hold inside your mind will need to be strengthened at all times, i want you to practice a little bit on your own until i return to the island...nothing too complicated. You're just going to set one wall against the other one while seeing how well you adapt to your "enemy's" tactics, at the same time the two walls will be sharing information and use that to work better together." Joshua nodded once and flicked his wrist to bring his duffle bag over to him with his powers, there was little time now to act and procedure would have to be circumvented or else Levi would find out only to chain him to their bed. He gave a small smile that didnt reach his eyes to Rye and started to walk past the other man, his footsteps suddenly stopped bringing him to stand right next to his friend forcing his eyes to meet the other's. Jade looked on into deep brown that seemed infinite before him like great rings of endless light, his right hand reached up to cup the other man's left cheek and at once the entire building shook for no more than a fraction of a second. Joshua winked at Rye and swiftly left for his old rooms where most of the stuff he had kept from his days at MacArthur Enterprises was held, his mind however was slowly building itself back up after splitting off a part of it.
Back within the gym and deep within the mind of Rye lay the fragment of his own mind that had implanted itself during that exchange of skin to skin contact, the form of a black jaguar could be seen prowling behind a wall of jade crystal that streteched endlessly. A seal on a piece of paper could be made out attached to the front of the crystal wall explaining to Rye that this was his third wall that even the most skilled telepath would not detect, it would only activate if the other two were to fall. Or if by chance Joshua was in trouble. [/size]

Rye saw Joshua leave but his presence lingered for a moment or two. Rye felt light headed and tried to stand up. He took a minute to get his mind right. He cracked his neck and stretched his shoulders out. He picked up his bag and was out of the door. He felt different from his experience with Joshua and he needed to breathe. Rye walked to his room and left his items in there and he sat on his bed. He took off his shirt and lied down and closed his eyes. He had a huge headache and could barley think straight. His eye's rolled to the back of his head and he closed his eyes.
He woke twenty minutes later his headache gone away. He went to his window his eyes adjusting to the light. He looked to his left at his mirror and noticed how he had more than stubble now. He walked over to his drawer and pulled out a bag and pulled out a straight razor and shaving soap with a brush. He lathered the soap and spread it out on his face he took the straight razor and started to shave. Images of the past couple of days flashed, The strange scientist who wanted to use his blood for animals, meeting Joshua, awaiting to meet Levi. Then he thought of his brother Peter. He hoped with all his heart he was still alive. In all the excitement he forgot to continue to look for his brother. He felt his new, fresh, and smooth skin. He sighed. He felt homesick and wanted to visit his home in New York. So he wrote a letter: "Joshua, Hey man the floating tin can is making me a little homesick. I haven't left the cause or the mission and want to meet Levi but I just need to go home for a bit and gather what I need for when I come back. I hope you understand. ~ Rye. P.S. A man named Dane approached me he wanted my blood. I don't know if trust him, if you have any info on him please let me know. You have my phone number. I will return soon."
Rye slipped the letter under Joshua's door and went outside there were a whole bunch of others outside, the ones who kept asking him what he could do. He was at the stern and could see the bow. He smirked his bare feet wiggling in excitement, they wanted to know what he could do? Well here was a taste. Rye started sprinting to the bow his breath controlled and he was gaining speed. He saw faces blur as they watched him, he was smiling he reached the edge of the bow and without breaking speed he pushed off the rail into the air and just as he pushed off he shifted into a hawk and started to fly back home to New York.
